August 2026

Hey hey!! Another month down and wow was it jammed packed! My statement for the year is to be where my feet are. I think I should have made my word for the year pivot. I guess they kind of go hand in hand. I am accepting that going with the flow of life is truly the way to go. It really is less stressful. If something is not happening or falling into place easily, I pivot. On the opposite side, when a door opens and things happen sooner than I thought, I also pivot and step into that as well. I am just riding the waves of life over here and trying my best. Some days I nail it and other days are a total miss.

At the end of the day, what is for me cannot and will not ever miss me. Ever.

Friend, it won’t miss you either. Promise.

Well at least, that is what I believe to my bones.

I have learned that two things can exist at the same time. In most cases, one emotion usually follows the other. In my case a lot of times, the first emotion is worry or fear which is then followed by unwavering faith and trust.

There are days when I get in my head about life. You know it’s just all the things that someone in their 30’s living a life they thought would look totally different stresses about and overthinks. [yay.] So what do I do? I have to intentionally check myself and remind myself what it means to have unwavering faith. It’s a pivot. It’s a change of perspective. It’s grace and growth wrapped in one moment with polar opposite feelings. Again, some days I nail it and other days are a total miss.

Grace is being given in excess around here.

Something I was super convicted about in August was to speak life into everything. EVERYTHING. Yes, even when someone pisses me off. Our words have power. I just need to figure out how to do a better job speaking life into myself when I have tough days. You too? Glad we are in this together.

Every day is filled with prayers on prayers on prayers. Victory prayers are a daily norm around here.

My sweet mama turned 65 in August. Gosh, she is precious. I love my mama – forever and always! She is quite literally my world and my best friend. I would be lost without her. She is the most helpful, kind, giving, loving and supportive person on the planet. I really am blessed with the absolute best.

Something new I started in August was a monthly ‘Anything can happen list’. Basically, you just list 10 things on the first of the month that are big dreams or crazy things that could happen. Whether they happen or not, we put it out there and let the universe do it’s thing. Anything can happen, right??

I am a dreamer and love Pinterest.

I have been a Cabi girl for a very long time. Saying I love their clothes is an understatement. They are classic, timeless, great quality and effortlessly chic. The new fall line is out and oh my gosh it is cahhuttee!!!

I spent a long weekend in Seattle with Ragan. The time we spend together is never long enough and I just love her. We had the best time! She is such a beautiful and kind soul. I absolutely cherish our friendship. It is priceless to me and I am so grateful for a friend like her. She taught me how to crochet, we shopped, hiked, relaxed and ate really good food. I had one of the best meals of my life when I was there. If you are ever in West Seattle, you need to add Driftwood to your itinerary. Wow. So freaking good.

Pivoting off food and on to the personal training session I did in August. I recently joined a gym and they offered a free personal training session. I don’t normally do stuff like that, but I thought why not? I will at least get a good workout. We did a body scan and ya girl is optimal in all areas! The trainer put me through a little workout. He had me do around the world frog jumps. I learned that I do not have power when I jump backwards and that is just not okay with me. It was interesting and it is now something I added to the conditioning part of my boxing workouts. Give me a couple of months! Ha!

My faith is strong in almost every area of my life that God’s got me. I don’t have to stress. I just know without a shadow of a doubt he’s got it. Truly unwavering faith. Now friend, don’t skip over the almost in that first sentence and stay with me.

The area of my life where my faith is not as strong is in my future life when it comes to marriage and kids. It’s not that I don’t have faith in his ability to do everything and anything. The last couple of years my heart feels like maybe he doesn’t have a seat at that table for me anymore. It’s hard. It’s heavy. The grief of that is a lot some days.

I find myself stuck in this odd spot where I am grieving my dreams and also know his plans for my life are ALWAYS better than I could ever imagine. I just need to be patient and trust. The waiting is uncomfortable.

You know, I always dreamed of being a wife and a mom. I so badly want my own little family unit.

Lord knows I thought I would be living that life by now.

Friend, in a weird way, I am so grateful I am not.

My heart is currently being transformed, healed, molded and shaped. God’s hand is absolutely in my life and wow is he doing a number on me in the best way.

No matter how much my heart grieves some days, one thing that doesn’t change is my trust in Jesus and the abundance he has planned for my life. I would not have particularly picked the steps I am walking now, but Lord knows I am walking them full of grace, trust and faith.

The plan each day: Eyes on Jesus and following his direction.

Everything happens in divine timing. Not one second early and not one second late.

He’s got me and, friend, he’s got you too.

No matter what happens… he will equip and guide us… you and I will be okay no matter what happens or which direction our life goes. We can enjoy the ride together!

So to sum August up, I am trying my best every day to be where my feet are and to fully trust his direction for my life. I truly believe each person in my life and every single day is a gift from above. I choose to live with a grateful heart and to love deeply no matter what.

Last thing, when you can, always choose kindness. It really is the best.

Until next time,

Amanda

March 2026

March 2026

Hi friend! 2024 was the last time I published a blog post. So here we are again showing up in a space I love dearly with courage to write about the things in my life. I used to post on social media more and for the past two years I really limited what I showed to the world. The private life is really nice and something I value. I just can’t ignore this nudge that is telling me to come back to this space and share any longer. I believe those nudges are a God thing and what his plans are with that nudge will eventually reveal itself… until then I am going to be obedient in the nudge and start blogging again.

So just an idea: a monthly brain dump

There may be other posts sprinkled in here and there and the posts may change over time, but for right now this is what the blog posts will be. A brain dump for the month. It will be random. There will most likely be thoughts around food. Lightbulb moments. Jesus. Maybe some quotes or funny stories. Two words to describe it: authentically random.

I hope you can relate.

Let’s do the dang thing… what happened in March??

A big one from this month is I feel like I finally wrapped my head around what standing firm in my faith during a difficult/uncomfortable season means.

Here’s my lightbulb moment: Holding strong in my faith is deciding to let go of the control that I, Amanda, have to figure out the outcome. I literally just have to sit with Jesus, follow those nudges/pushes/guidance and just be! It is all going to be okay and it ALWAYS works out exactly like it should. It actually kind of blew my mind the peace I immediately felt after that light bulb moment. Trying to figure out and play out the different scenarios was exhausting on so many levels.

It is spring here in Texas so I, of course, planted new flowers and let me just say they are blooming quite nicely. I LOVE plants! For the longest time I couldn’t keep a plant alive and now… I have wayyy too many! Instead of killing them, it’s as if I give them a new life. I just cannot bring myself to throw away a living plant, so I just keep adding to my collection. Fun fact: when it was below freezing and the potted plants had to come inside I got a head count. 40+…. we listen and we don’t judge. HA!

Speaking of Spring and warmer weather…. we get about two weeks of spring maybe four weeks max and the rest of the days feel like summer with less humidity. It’s hot. Summer is right around the corner. Oh and the mosquitos are back! Little suckers love me and I definitely do not love them.

I am being where my feet are. I am just being where I am and walking the path that is already made for me. Trusting God as he guides my steps.

I discovered one of my quirks: I move furniture or decorations in my house when things feel off. I have rearranged my living room/kitchen area I don’t know how many times in the last couple of years. I will also rearrange decorations, pictures, plants, etc. Who knew?! For what it is worth: I do like the way things are right now.

An ice cold HEB coke over ice is my favorite drink. Recently I have been obsessed with Bum Energy drinks. SOOO good!

I am so incredibly grateful for my family and friends. There are SO many times I get teary-eyed with pure gratitude when I think about them. Thank you Jesus for my people!

Duke went to the vet this month. Poor baby – I hate when either of my boys are down. They had to sedate him to trim some of his hair. L O FREAKING L I called that one.

My sister and I went to Forrest Frank at the Houston Rodeo. OMG!! We had us the best day and the concert was incredible!! Love his music. It is on repeat! What was so sweet was watching the kids sing and dance to every song. All I wanted to do is hug those mamas and tell them they are doing a great job.

Have you ever had a donut stick? So good.

My sister got my mom and I a milk frother for Christmas. She taught me how to make fancy coffees at home and I am hooked!! So good. So easy and not as sweet. I don’t know what it is about coffee in a mug but it brings me so much joy! It just does.

That’s all I have for right now. Until next month!

A quick reminder: Be brave. Be kind. Be YOU!

Oh and go on an adventure! Life is to be lived!
